It sounds like Elizabeth Banks but her husband is part owner of their production company "Brownstone Productions" and seems like an intelligent guy. I know Elizabeth has been in Vancouver filming Power Rangers, while he has stayed in LA with the kids.
The only other actress I can think of is Angelina Jolie.

By your logic that should rule her out since her husband is the OWNER of a consective Oscar nominated/winning production company, and is probably an A++ list actor??? And in what world is Jolie A list?

Well,that guy who sued Elizabeth & her Hubby for stealing his screenplay for "Walk Of Shame" JUST appealed to the Cali S.C.. asking for a Jury Trial soooo,maybe he's stressed about that...plus they're producing the Charlie's Angels Reboot & she's directing it(J.A.S. will be happy to know that Emma Watson's name has been bandied about for 1 of the Angels)but supposedly there've been some issues w/that as well..in short, stress relief... is she that good a director? i heard Pitch Perfect 2 was not so good but i guess if they're planning a PP3 something worked,eh.
my 1st thought of talented actress in front of & behind the camera was Tina Fey but she's mostly TV I presume.
