Blind Item #3

This movie could have been brilliant but it won't be. Not because the story is not good, but because the A list director only cares about having sex with every guy he can find who wants a walk on or tiny speaking role in all the gay nightclub scenes. It is like his Christmas.

I hate my Rami being associated with him!

or could be Lee Daniels filming "Star" about a female R&B trio in Atlanta. I will leave Tyler Perry out because it does mention something about potential for brilliance...

Who is me, if I was director.

No one can play Freddy Mercury. This movie will be a total waste of money and celluloid. Take the millions and spend it on feeding starving people in Yemen and Haiti.

Sorry, Freddie, me thinks I spelled your name incorrectly. Still on those Mojito IVs.

I think Sasha Baron Cohen would've been outstanding as Freddie

Sacha Baron Cohen could. But apparently Brian May won't let him.

Gus Van Zant/When We Rise(miniseries written by Dustin Lance Black about the history, struggles of the gay/LGBT community in NYC from Stonewall on....)

*not just NYC but the country. Sounds like a project in the can, not filming(hence the past tense)-it's airs in January .

Is directing ONE episode of miniseries directing a movie?

He's also executive producer.

Sasha Baron Cohen would be perfect. That said, his quirky, sometimes obscene past films would not lend him to be taken seriously by Brian May or anyone in Queen. His own undoing. A Freddie Mercury BROADWAY musical, on the other hand, would be a major hit, I think. A film, no? A made-for-cable mess, no. They should write a musical about his life from a talented school boy to stardom. If I had the $ I would do it myself.

"HIS OWN UNDOING"?????????????????

Derek! You are such a drama queen. Do you live in London? Are you a part of the entertainment business there? Do you know anything about how he conducts himself and how other actors view him? He comes from a brilliant Jewish family in England. His brother is world known. I think they expected a little more from him than making movies that make fun of other nations and the American way of life. Not to mention the homoerotic in every film. I am not going anywhere. Someone has to tell the truth about these idols made of clay. 2017 is going to be a bitch. You have no idea what we are heading into. Don't waste your time and energy on people who don't deserve it.

+Me, @Snooches,
At the very least it'll be an interestent experiment to watch.

Derek. Let us all calm down. CDAN is for people with opinions about actors and show business. Enty gives us pretty much free rein on expressing ourselves. I don't always agree with things I read, either. But let us tone down the nasties and let it be. I enjoy your posts enormously. Please calm down.

Star isn't a movie, it's a tv series.

I do too. I can't think of anyone better for the part.

I had read that the reason Cohen was ultimately let go from the project is because he wanted the movie to delve a little bit more into details of Freddie's life that the other band members did not want to show, I suppose out of respect for the ultra-private Mr. Mercury. This caused quite a bit of conflict between SBC and Queen.
