Another Month In Jail For Amber Portwood

The Indiana justice system is making me wish that Los Angeles celebrities had their cases heard there. They seem really tough. I think it is because they have more money for more jails so don't have to let people out after 5 hours of a one month sentence. In a court appearance yesterday, a judge in Indiana ordered that Amber Portwood has to stay in jail until at least January 27, 2012, and did not offer her bail or anything until the hearing on that date. Amber's crimes are about the same as Lindsay Lohan's, but the punishment is way different. I think what hurt Amber is that not only has she refused to take drug tests but she added the two new felonies arrests to her record since her probation sentence. She is accused of battery after beating the crap out of a girl at a restaurant and possession of a controlled substance.

And I'm assuming that pink and black thing is a jail outfit? Cuz otherwise it's unacceptable.

I honestly don't know anything about this girl except for what I've read here, I've never seen Teen Mom or whatever show she's on. I just don't understand how a state like CA that probably has more millionaires per square mile than anywhere else, has such budget problems. I know there are many factors I don't understand, but as Gob Bluth would say COME ON! All those Malibu and Brentwood and Hills homes and incomes (big industry players, plastic surgeons, actors, producers, etc) and the state is bankrupt and their justice system is a joke. As someone who went to jail for a small non-violent crime in another state (years ago), it infuriates me to no end how people glide in and out of the gray bar hotel in Cali. F'real.

/OT rant. Sorry.

As for this Amber person...glad she's not in California, she seems kinda awful.

So will they make her take off those tacky fake eyelashes in the big house or will her cellmate just rip them off during their first fight? I've never seen Teen Mom, but I feel for her poor child. Apples don't fall far from their trees.

oh Electric Warrior your naive nature warms my dead heart. I work for a large accounting firm and I promise you these rich fat cats in CA spend a lot of money on tax attorneys to figure out a way to not pay taxes. I know a lot of these celebrities say they will pay more taxes. But the majority don't and won't.

The corporations get around taxes by doing something called "transfer pricing" thats a way of keeping US corporations profits out of the united states so they don't get taxed on it.

It's all creative accounting and its all legal.

I've never watched the show, and I think this girl is so trashy.. Ugh.
What a stupid idea MTV had for this piece of trash show. Seems to me it made young girls want to get pregnant.. DUH!

I'm afraid this may put a crimp in her burgeoning modeling career...

50% of the teenage girls I saw at the mall today look like this. The orange-y (bad) skin, overplucked eyebrows, ratty hair and terrible make-up choices. I weep for the future.

@Electric Warrior, CA has insane property tax laws so that people with these multimillion dollar homes pay essentially nothing in taxes and the taxes can only be raised if a referendum passes which will never happen.

She looks really puffy ... wonder what's up with that.
