Man Sentenced To Year In Jail For Hacking Selena Gomez's Facebook

A British man was sentenced to 12 months in jail for hacking into Selena Gomez's Facebook account last year. At the time, he was the first to discover that Selena and Justin Bieber were together because of his hacking so posted a lot of messages from Selena that Justin sucked. So, this guy got a year in jail for hacking. I can't wait to see if any of the employees of News Corp get any sentences for all their hacking. They actually caused a lot of damage. This guy was 19 at the time and caused no damage to anyone. Will justice be equivalent? Probably not.

Really? REALLY?? For hacking. Into her facebook. And posting messages. He didn't steal her identity? Steal her bank account information? Really?

He's a commoner messing with the rich. Of course he'll hang.

NewsCorp is the rich messing with commoners and the rich. They'll get shit.

That's just silly. Gossip rags go that all the time, but I guess they have high priced lawyers to get them off.
Poor guy.

This is ridiculous. The British "justice system" is a joke. This kid gets a year for hacking into someone's Facebook, yet if you read the London dailies you will see instance after instance of murderers, rapists, child and animal abusers, thieves, and violent punks getting off with barely a slap on the wrist. It's completely ass-backwards.

It causes damage to everyone if hackers don't get properly punished for their activity. This is not a case of 'celebrities are just asking for it.' Everyone is at risk but no one seems to give a damn until it's their tits on the web for the world to see.

The Murdochs and everyone who did their bidding should be locked up until the end of time and it still wouldn't be punishment enough for what Rupert inflicted on the world.

Yeah it seems innocent enough but where do you draw the line? By hacking in to her Facebook he may have had access to other personal information and who knows if he did use it or was going to use it?

I'm a nerd myself and I actually have an MIS degree so I say this with love in my heart ... but that guy looks as though this photo is of the first time he's left his parents' basement in ages. Get some fresh air, kid! And eat some vegetables. Jesus.

Oh, please. Stop with the lectures. This is just stupid and there are other methods of punishment vs 'jail' time for him.

•Dharun Ravi sentenced to jail in Tyler Clementi webcam spying case 12:38 PM - he received 30 days.

Something seems out of kilter here.

30 days??? wtf?

Dharun Ravi is a rich little shit. I'm surprised his sentence is that long.

re Dharun Ravi : "the judge says he added a notation to his judgement recommending that Ravi not be deported". Now that pisses me off , what a deal Ravi got, and now the $$$ will pour in....

This guy could come to The Walking Dead set and start being a zombie right away without anyone doing his makeup.

The Murdoch empire has a whole lotta other shit happening with it now that the FBI is looking into their hacking practices. And the British police are gunning for them too. Will anyone get a year? Highly unlikely.

The British Police were partners with News Corp. They were taking payoffs to give reporters & photographers the chance to be onsite whenever a celebrity police action was about to happen. Hugh Grant called the police to report that his home had been robbed. The News Corp photographers arrived before the police.

Ever see LA Confidential? That cop/tabloid thing's been going on since way back when.
Back in the day, news photographer Arthur Fellig was dubbed "Weegee"(Ouija) by the police for his knack of arriving on crime scenes before they even got there, thanks to his police scanner radio.

Jail? Really? A hefty fine would be much more suitable. Instead they're going to throw him into jail with hardened criminals (I watch Beyond Scared Straight, I know what happens).

Ridiculous sentence. A shit ton of hours of community service would have done society many, many more favors. Judges are fucking stupid sometimes.

I agree with everyone else - absolute bullshit. One law for the poor commoners, one law for the rich. Ridiculous.
