Today's Blind Items - The Cannes Girls
Every May the movie world turns its direction to Cannes. Everyone wants to walk the red carpet and movie stars from all over the world come for their time in the spotlight. There are several other actresses that come also, but for an entirely different purpose. Cannes is the time of the year when actresses who have hit some harder times but have a high level of fame and still some kind of beauty audition to be what they call yacht girls for the summer. Cannes is where they try to find the guy that will make them their yacht girl. This is going to focus on three or so actresses who have turned to this road. Once you come down this road it is tough to get off.
The first actress is easy She used to be a B+ movie actress who made some bad choices. Couldn't get a part and one May was convinced to come over. She is actually one of the few who enjoyed it the first few years. She was young and still getting offers from guys in their 30's and 40's. She was making way more than she made as an actress and having the time of her life. Now though it is getting harder to make the same kind of money and when she does find a man it is usually some guy in his 60's or older. The rest don't want her because she has been around for too many seasons.
Another actress who has made it off the yacht system but will probably be back is this former B+ television actress. She first came to Cannes a few years ago and was caught up in the excitement. She found a young rich guy right away and thought it was going to be great. The drugs were great, the guy provided the kind of sex she loved and she wanted to party all summer. After about a month the guy had found someone younger and the actress found herself strung out and then she got lucky and met a big world famous celebrity and he got her out of the cycle and the next thing you know she is back in Hollywood.
A slew of reality stars have tried to join in the parade but its harder for them because the men like to brag and its much easier to brag about someone who was on a hit television show or was a star in the movies than some reality show no one has heard of. One reality show actress who did make it for awhile was on Real World. She had been very popular on the show and men in Europe knew who she was and she lasted a season or two before getting strung out and then had no takers.
There is the British reality star/actress who is always available but only picks one guy and controls her partying. She loves it and says that three months in the south of France pays for her entire year of living. She tries to have a regular boyfriend the rest of the year, and always manages to break up just after Easter.
Don't think this has been going on just the past few years either. One of the greatest acting legends of all time made her fortune doing the same thing way back in the day of old Hollywood. Everyone talks about her with awe. That is their dream.

Definitely Tara for 1 since Lindsey is too much in the spotlight to take time to be in Europe and away from Hollywood.
The legend I want to say is Dietrich, after she left Hollywood, she remained a staple in Europe not working but still making tons of money by other means.

#1, clearly Tara Reid, should see if she could get one of those 60-somethings (or heck, even older, the older the better) to marry her. Not a bad gig at ALL. If she can snag an octogenarian with one foot in the grave, in a few years she can relax completely.

Not Jacinda Barrett she has been married to actor Gabriel Macht since 2004 and has a child with him. He is in a great series on USA called Suits 2nd season starts in June.

I know one of the other cast members from the first Las Vegas RW from college by extension - this would be in line with other things he's said about Trishelle.
If I were beautiful and loved money, and didn't mind sleeping with men I didn't love, I'd definitely try and become a yacht girl. But otherwise, no thanks!

I like the Grace guess but something doesn't add up, Grace Kelly was still a working actress in 1956 when she met and married Rainier so she would not need to be a yacht girl, not to mention the Kelly's were old money from Philadelphia so Grace was never wanting for cash.

regarding the cannes blind, I realize now after reading this blog, especially over the past few months when the blinds have been getting more and more disturbing, that the movie/tv business is pretty much a big whore house.
And Tara was just pictured a few days ago leaving the yacht in the AM with a couple, implying she was in a paid 3 some with them.
Hayden P for #2, those pics of her with bruises and welts all over her ass on a yacht with her boxer BF at the time and Enty implying some other reason why she had them (rough sex). All at Cannes.
OK, I'm just gonna come out and say it. I never really gave Hayden a second look, lil fidget w/ nice butt are dime a dozen, but after reading all the "blinds" about her and how damaged/whorish she is, its all making my pants perk up.

I think Joan Crawford was known to be a lady of easy virtue. She would have done this and she did end up married to the Chairman of the Board of Pepsi-Cola. That kept her in money and spotlights for many more years. She still thought it was all about her.

My only comment is I don't think it's Grace, just doesn't sit right with me. The whole legend of Grace is what she gave up to be a princess, she was sitting on top of the world, didn't need to be a yacht girl.
Plus Grace Kelly & Prince Ranier did their entire courtship by mail. She had a break in filming To Catch a Thief one day, was given a quick tour of the Monaco palace & that was it for her introduction to Ranier. He started writing to her back in the US and by the next time they met in New York she was introducing him to her family. And as far as getting old she was 26 when she retired. She had at least 15 more good years of lead roles had she continued acting.

And I think we know this is exactly what Lindsay was doing there last year, the big scandal was the picture of her on the yacht with the serving tray next to her that may or may not have shown cocaine on it. I remember some wealthy "couple" ended up saying Lindsay was their guest on that yacht.
The thing about "world famous celebrity" makes me wonder if it isn't an actor but someone who's famous for something else, a la Simon Cowell or Ryan Seacrest.

Joan Crawford didn't like to travel and rarely left California in her heyday. She did travel for Pepsi, but this was when she was quite a bit older...I just don't see her as a fit for this blind. I agree with the Marlene Dietrich guess.
Kelly was 26 when she married Rainier (after winning an Oscar and working nonstop, also having a high-profile affair with dress designer Oleg Cassini) so don't think she's the old time actress. I think it was someone like Ava Gardner or Dietrich, someone with a high profile in Europe.
